This is the number one question we get! The answer is yes, only children who have experienced complex trauma during core years of development are eligible for our program. Here is a video on exactly why.
The Stable Moments model is designed for children and youth, aged 3 to 17, who have spent time in foster care, been adopted or have experienced developmental trauma.
The reason for this specialization lies in our trauma-informed approach, which acknowledges the unique needs of participants whose brains have been affected by developmental trauma.
Due to the impact of developmental trauma, these individuals may have missed crucial milestones for brain development, cognition, social and emotional awareness. Our approach is uniquely crafted to address these gaps in development and facilitate healing.
Because we have received such positive feedback on the model, we are often asked, “can we use this program to serve kids with other needs? Simply put, the answer is no.
Children who have endured trauma but had the benefit of a nurturing environment conducive to neurotypical development may require a different approach altogether. Our focus remains on providing specialized support to those who need it most, with an understanding of the intricate challenges posed by developmental trauma.
